How to Arrive in Favignana

The closest airport to Favignana is Trapani Birgi Airport (Vincenzo Florio Airport), located just 15 km from the port of Trapani. Several airlines including Ryanair operate seasonal routes connecting Trapani to major Italian and European cities.

Palermo Falcone–Borsellino Airport is a larger international hub approximately 100 km from Trapani. From Palermo airport you can reach Trapani by bus (Segesta Autolinee, approximately 1.5 hours) or by car via the A29 motorway.

From Trapani port, take a hydrofoil or ferry to Favignana — the crossing takes 30–75 minutes depending on the service.

By Car

From Palermo or eastern Sicily, take the A29 motorway (Palermo–Mazara del Vallo) and exit at Trapani. Follow signs to the port of Trapani (Porto di Trapani).

Vehicles can be transported to Favignana on the Siremar or NGI ferries, though we strongly recommend booking vehicle space well in advance during the summer season.

Note that Favignana is a small island. Once there, a bicycle or scooter is far more practical than a car for getting around.

By Train

Trenitalia operates rail connections to Trapani from Palermo (approximately 2 hours via Castelvetrano). From Trapani station it is a short walk or taxi ride to the port.

By Hydrofoil or Ferry

From the port of Trapani, hydrofoils (aliscafi) operated by Liberty Lines depart multiple times daily for Favignana. The crossing takes approximately 30–40 minutes.

Ferry services operated by Siremar and NGI provide a slower but more economical crossing of approximately 60–75 minutes. Ferries are the only option for bringing a vehicle to the island.

During summer, services are frequent throughout the day. In low season, schedules are reduced — always check timetables before travelling.

By Bus

Segesta Autolinee operates coach services between Palermo (airport and city centre) and Trapani. The journey takes approximately 1.5–2 hours.

From Trapani bus station it is a short walk to the port where you can board a hydrofoil or ferry to Favignana.
